Tractor pulling events and monster truck rallies

Tractor pulling events and monster truck rallies require permission from the police. This is also the case for car boxing at village fêtes, etc.

GOOD TO KNOW

There are three types of tractor pulling:

  • Ordinary tractors, such as LandboUngdom tractor pulling
  • Purpose-built tractors (professional tractor pulling), such as the European Tractor Pulling Championship
  • Modified lawn tractors, such as tuned lawn tractors

When permission for a tractor pulling event, a monster truck rally or a car boxing event is granted by the police, it is a condition that you have obtained permission from the owner of the land where you wish to host the event.

The landowner may be a private individual, a business or an association, such as the local athletics association, or the municipality if it is in a public place. You must observe any terms and conditions for the use of the site determined by the landowner.

In connection with the processing of your application, the police must also approve the site where you want to host the event for the sake of safety, such as access routes for emergency management and regulation of traffic in connection with access/exit and parking.

As an organiser you must take out compulsory liability insurance for any assistants and liability insurance for the event with an insurance cover of at least DKK 5 million for any personal injury suffered by members of the audience and DKK 2 million for property damage.
There must be a plan of the track, safe and proper roping off/fencing is required, and the performance may only take place lengthwise and not crosswise directly towards the audience.

In addition to a permission for the event itself, you must apply for special permission from the police, for example if you want to serve alcohol or set up amusements, such as a bouncing castle, in connection with the event.

If you set up a tent accommodating more than 150 people, you must notify the local fire and life-saving service with a view to obtaining approval of the layout and installation.

Depending on the size of the event and the number of participants, you should consider notifying the prehospital of the region that the event might affect traffic and that an urgent need for ambulances, etc., might arise.
