Stamp and signature
In Denmark, import and export licences for weapons are granted by the police as digital licences. This means that licenses no longer carry stamps and signatures. Accordingly, the authenticity and validity of a licence do not depend on police stamps and signatures.
In the European Union, licences to import and export firearms can be checked in the Internal Market Information System (IMI).
In case of doubt as to the authenticity and validity of a licence, the Danish police can be contacted at:
mvjyl-pac-vaaben@politi.dk or on telephone no. + 45 70 20 14 73.
Telephone hours:
Monday to Thursday 10am – 3pm and Friday 10am – 1pm.
Please note that emails must not contain sensitive personal data.
Use your digital certificate when buying ammunition
If you can present a digital weapon certificate on your telephone or tablet, you do not need to bring the certificate in printed format when buying ammunition. The reason is that the arms dealer no longer has to add purchases of ammunition on the physical certificate.
Scan your other certificates
You can scan all your weapon certificates and use them in the same way. It is sufficient that you present them in digital format when you go hunting or want to buy ammunition. For example, you can scan your certificates and store them in your digital mailbox.
If you are exempt from receiving emails through Digital Post from the authorities, you will receive your certificates by letter
If you are exempt from using online self-service solutions, you will receive your certificates by letter. You do not have to do anything in that connection.
