32 year old arrested at the Iranian Embassy in Copenhagen
Copenhagen Police were called to the Iranian Embassy in Copenhagen Friday morning in response to a man breaching the premises.
A 32-year-old Iranian citizen were arrested Friday morning after having breached the grounds of the Iranian Embassy in Copenhagen carrying a knife. Here he was stopped by an employee from the embassy before reaching the embassy building.
The 32-year-old will be arraigned in the Court of Copenhagen on Saturday in a remand hearing, where the prosecutor from Copenhagen Police will ask the court to remand the man in police custody.
He is charged with two counts of vandalism, for an act of violence and for breaching the Danish Criminal Code § 114 a, nr. 2 – which deals with crimes against people protected by for instance diplomatic status.
The investigation will be conducted in cooperation between Copenhagen Police and The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET).
Based on the incident, Copenhagen Police have taken the necessary security measures in regards to the Iranian Embassy, its employees etc.
